I have a suggestion (not the spell  ) for a drastic but simple change that would make the sorcerer more equal in power with the other classes.

New rule:
When sorcerers go from 1th to 2nd level they skip to the 3rd level part of table to find Spells per day and Spells known. All other statistics stay the same.

I have yet to see a PC sorcerer in play, and I think that is because they are so weak it would be suicidal to play one. They have one advantege, not having to prepare spells ahead of time, but many drawbacks. But this advantage is not as great as WotC thinks because other classes can do the same for instanse with magic items. With a wand you can cast the same spell over and over. I have many other arguments too, but I will save them for later in case someone disagrees with me...... :)

Well, I play a level 14 female elf sorceress, and she prods buttock!

The only thing I don't like about it is having a very limited selection of spells, but the ability to choose is really neat. And you shouldn't forget that you can cast a maximum of 6 spells per day, and a wizard can only cast 4 at max. I get most of the kills in the party, even while the other ones have leet magic items.

Your change would be nice, but with me it'd be unfair for the rest of my party.

I agree that spellcasters become the most dangerous characters at high levels. And my suggested change would make a deadly 14th level sorcerer even deadlier.

I have only thought about fixing the uneven start of sorcerers compared to other spellcasters. Comparing a 5th level wizard and a 5th level sorcerer you see that the wizard casts 3rd level spells while the sorcerer only have 2nd and 1st.

The problem with sorcerers, I think, is that they are too weak at low levels, but maybe you are right that they are more than strong enough at high levels. My rules-change only solves half this problem, so any suggestions would be nice.

I have come up with a suggested rules change that will make sorcerers stronger at low levels but not at higher levels.

In table 3-16 for sorcerer Spells per day; input the number "0" instead of "-" for 2nd lvl spells at 3rd level, 3rd lvl spells at 5th level, 4th lvl spells at 7th level, .... and so on. In table 3-17 for sorcerer Spells known; add the number "1" instead of "-" for 2nd lvl spells at 3rd level, .... and so on.

Another argument for this rule is that since many prestige classes require "ability to cast 3rd lvl spells" or something like that, sorcerers would reach 1st lvl of a prestige class one level later than wizards. And prestige classes are important for sorcerers, since they do not give up anything (extra feats etc) and gain much, by entering any prestige class that gives +1 lvl of existing spellcasting spells per day.

Jeg har satt meg litt inn i det Lynx skriver her, og er helt enig med ham. Noen flere som har synspunkt på dette? Hvis ikke blir dette skrevet inn i House Rules.
